I didn't know about this before, but they had tried sticky traps and rat poison (only in the garage).
Once I told them about it being in the kitchen, they made plans to call an exterminator to get rid of it/them.
So, of course, I feel incredibly guilty because I don't want them to kill an innocent animal.
Fortunately, I convinced my dad to try those "mouse cube" traps that were mentioned in one of the memories over at naturalliving. They were only twenty-something cents a piece, so he was willing to give them a try.
I hope that one of them works quickly because he is only giving them an overnight chance before he calls an exterminator.
As I was typing this, the mouse made an appearance darting around underneath my chair.
Why is it that when little critters show up at the house, I am always the one to spot them? (Last time it was a bat that I woke up to find circling over my bed.)
After some chasing, my dad gave up trying to catch him.
Then the mouse found his/her way up onto my desk, and climbed on top of the printer.
At this point, he/she was more still and I got a closer look. The little creature is pretty cute!
Eventually my dad caught it under a plastic box on the floor. We put the frame of a box around that box and snuck one of the traps under the small one. Hopefully the mouse will sniff out the snack, and be in the trap by the morning. Then we can release it in the park or something.
I really hope that it works. Not only because we will be rid of our little visitor, but also because that will prove the traps to be functional. If any more appear, we can use those instead of killing them.
